Robyn’s Bio
Growing up in a physically active family, team sports were a given. Early on I began swimming, softball, and ringette. In high school, volleyball and basketball were my focus and eventually led to me play for the U of S Huskie basketball team. With this higher level of competitive sports, I developed a keen interest in individual workouts – especially running, cross training and lifting weights.
In 2001 after the birth of my second child, I began taking group fitness classes at a local gym and fell in love with the classes. The rest is history! I became certified in Group Fitness, Reebok cycle, Bender Ball, Drums Alive and Zumba. In 2008, I expanded my scope of practice by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer. I love training clients one on one, in partners, or small groups. My personal favourite is Bootcamp outside!
I have certain priorities that shape my life and they clearly encompass my personal mission and the core values that I choose to live by: they are the passions of my life. These are what I call my 5 F’s: Faith, Family, Friends, Fitness and Fun. In these 5 I find the key to my overall health. Fitness and Fun are the icing on the cake. Really, fitness is not something I “DO” it is just the way I LIVE my life...and you can too. I think keeping our priorities straight and balancing all of life’s demands is fundamental to a healthy life.
My teaching is practical -- functional body weight training, kettle bells, sandbags, free weights, the BOSU ball and stability ball, tubing/bands and the TRX.
My main focus is core strength. If you have ever been to one of my classes, you will recognize this constant mantra” chest up, abs tight, shoulder s back and down, belly button sucked into your spine and ribs closed!”... I think I even say this one in my sleep!
The crucial message, is that I believe that everyone can and should be physically active, and as a result reap the many benefits in their everyday lives. It is my desire to help you discover and achieve your healthy and fit potential, and to bring you to a place of embracing and enjoying an active life. I also believe, and know from personal experience, that fitness can be FUN!
One of my favourite sayings:”You were born to MOVE...so let’s get moving!”
