Since I was fifteen years old, I have had a passion for health and fitness. I started participating in group exercise classes at the age of fifteen and knew immediately what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. At the age of twenty-two, I completed my first aerobic course; the Fitness Ontario Leadership Program. This was not a certification, but it was the only program available in 1987. I enthusiastically started teaching classes, and in 1990 I completed my first instructor certification through GoodLife Fitness Clubs. In 1990, I became a Can Fit Pro certified Fitness Instructor Specialist which was very rewarding. I attended as many different workshops and conferences that I could as I could not get enough information. I am very enthusiastic about learning and staying abreast the ever-changing fitness field. In the year 2000, I wanted to learn more specifically about anatomy and physiology to enhance my knowledge as an instructor. I studied for the ACE Personal training exam, and in February of 2001, I was a certified ACE Personal Trainer. Through out the years, I have remained passionate about fitness and health by attending workshops, conferences and many courses. Fitness is my life, not just my job. I am motivated to continue learning and I love challenges which stimulate me to grow and achieve new goals. I love instructing classes and helping clients achieve their goals. I strive to show individuals how fun and rewarding fitness can be. Every individual's life can be empowered with fitness and my goal is to prove that to as many people as I can. Currently, I am the manager of the personal training department at Absolute Fitness for Women and instructing fitness classes. I am in my second year of an honours program in Human Kinetics at the University of Windsor, working towards my degree. My other interests include hiking, running, rock climbing, weight training, camping and reading. I have also run fitness classes at various campgrounds in Ontario, while on vacation. My goal is to take fitness to wherever I go and this is why I have signed up for this program. I am enthusiastic and excited to instruct individuals from around the world, and to share knowledge and experience new aspects of fitness and health.
