Alexa Wolkoff

Alexa’s journey into the world of yoga began in 1998 in a tiny New York City community yoga studio. She founded Yoga Sol in an effort to make different types and styles of yoga available, both to increase the knowledge of yoga and the people it could reach. The idea of a “community studio” has always appealed to her because of its unique ability to provide a safe space for people who may not have thought yoga was “for them” to experience and explore it.

A practicing licensed psychotherapist, commercial actress and yoga teacher, Alexa believes that emotional healing and transformation are possible through regular yoga practice. Sometimes relieving built up tension and patterns of movement in the body can be just as effective in releasing emotional stress as years of talk therapy. Alexa was certified through Yogaworks and continues to study how yoga affects the brain, body and emotions- from psychological and yogic perspectives.

Alexa creates classes that help guide students to find acceptance and expansion their bodies, hearts and minds and the ability to explore their own individual “edges.” Her classes are a combination of Vinyasa and Restorative yoga poses with a focus on the breath, releasing physical tension and building strength while quieting the mind.
