Amanda seeks to spread the mental and physical benefits of body movement and mindful living. She discovered yoga, specifically Forrest Yoga, in 2007. Through this, her life was transformed by the intense physical practice that powerfully, and positively, influenced her mental well-being. She fell in love with the style because of the release of tension in the mind and body. Throughout her years of practice, she gained a greater self-awareness and introspection, as well as a way to mitigate her modern day body aches and pains. An avid lover of yoga & travel, Amanda brought her mat on a 5-month backpacking trip to South America in order to balance the hectic and foreign world that she was exploring. Amanda always felt that Forrest Yoga "spoke" to her the most, and decided that she would one day take the training with creatrix Ana Forrest. Once the time was right, Amanda took the 200 hour 27-day Forrest Yoga Teacher Training with Ana Forrest in Chicago, IL. Amanda is also grateful for her prior academic education; she has an Master's from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Once a teacher, Amanda witnessed how Forrest Yoga reverses the unhealthy habits created by the corporate world. Sitting for eight hours in a chair all day, sadly, does terrible things to our bodies. Knowing that Forrest Yoga can address issues such as these, Amanda became passionate about focusing her work on the corporate employee. Her advanced training in social sciences and sociology represents her innate ability to understand individuals, groups of people, and the ways in which society works. Using this knowledge, Amanda is able to navigate businesses and their fast-paced style, yet offering a healthy balance to the competitive and cut-throat environments.
Amanda is passionate about sharing wisdom and empowerment in hopes of helping her students connect to their authentic selves and feel more present. She hopes to use her teaching tools to alleviate the pain that so many of us continue to burden ourselves with. Hailing from NJ, Wisconsin, Denver, and now Chicago, Amanda brings her many rich life experiences, love for exercise, her sense of humor, and intelligent sequencing into the classroom. Amanda strives to offer more than yoga, but a physical experience that draws in the opportunity to dive deeper into yourself, finding space to shift poor habits and self-mutilating behaviors (i.e. bad eating habits, hunching at a desk, etc.).
