I love to dance. I've been studying belly dance for ten years, as well as performing with a professional belly dance troupe for the past eight years. Recntly I've started teaching beginner belly dance at my local studio. I've also taken a variety of dance classes over the years, including hip-hop, African, Bollywood and swing dance. So when I stumbled across Zumba Fitness, it seemed like the perfect thing for me. The classes are so much fun! I always enjoyed myself so much I forgot I was even exercising! A couple of friends of mine are Zumba instructors and, seeing how much I loved it, encouraged me to become an instructor. I had never seen myself as a fitness instructor, but the idea of sharing this fun, fastastic workout with people really grew on me, so I decided to take the plunge.
I started my fitness instructor journey in March of 2013 with my Basic Level 1 Zumba certification. Soon after, one of my instructor friends recommended me for a position at the local Curves location, teaching Zumba in the Circuit. I have been teaching 3 classes per week there since April 2013 and loving every minute of it. I often tell my studnets that teaching Zumba is the best part of my day!
I'm still fairly early on in my Zumba career, but I'm excited to take more training and teach more classes. I am currently seeking out additional teaching opportunities at various fitness facilities and dance studios in my area. I am scheduled to take my Basic Level 2 course in December of this year and I hope to take some of the specialty trainings - including Zumba Gold and Zumba Toning - in 2014.
I am really excited to take a fitness vacation. Teaching Zumba on a beach In a beautiful tropical location? What could be better than that? :D
