As a kids, I was always a bit "chubby." I didn' play sports in school. In fact, I did anything to get out of gym class. I grew up with McDonald's happy meals and fresh baked cookies after school.
When I entered high school, I joined a drill team and that kept me active for about 4 years.
Fast forward to 2004. My husband, two kids and I moved to Arizona. That's where I gained the most weight I've ever gained. I was uncomfortable in my own skin. I never wore shorts or tank tops. You can imagine how uncomfortable I was, wearing jeans and a t-shirt all the time in over 100 degree weather! I even made up excuses of why I couldn't go on trips with my family because of how I felt.
My 30th birthday was approaching and I knew something had to change. I wasn't going to spend another year feeling the way I did. I wasn't sure what to do or how to start so I just started walking. However, I was so uncomfortable and embarrassed with myself that I didn't even go outside to walk, I used DVD's in my own home. I gradually started to feel some weight come off and that's when I wanted to challenge myself. I bought P90X and literally, the rest is history! Two weeks into the program, I felt a big difference! At the 30 day mark, I took my pics and put them side by side with my day 1 pic and I was blown away! Because you see, I was a skeptic! And now, I had proof, this really works! I was hooked and kept going! In my first round (90 days), I lost a little over 20lbs! At that time, I was hooked on weights and strength training, I really enjoyed it and how it changed my body. So, I did another program called Chalean Extreme, focusing on heavy lifting. I lost another 20lbs in 90 days! People started to notice my transformation and wanted to know what I was doing. That's when I became a coach and starting helping people achieve their own goals. It is such a rewarding job to be in the fitness industry and know that you're helping others get fit & healthy!
I then obtained my certifications in P90X, Insanity, Turbo Kick & Hip Hop Hustle. I thouroughly enjoy teaching! I love the energy and the feedback I get from my clients and members. Plus, they're having fun working out! I wanted to continue my education and then I received my NASM CPT so I could help people one on one, focus more on their form, what they want to focus on the most and help them get the best results. I also plan to obtain a certification in Fitness Nutrition as well.
I am always looking for ways to further my knowledge in the fitness industry so I can better help my clients.
