Joy Robichaud

I have been an athlete and competitive swimmer my entire life.  The pinnacle of my swimming career was getting to swim Divison 1 for the U of WI - Madison.  I have always worked out, eaten healthy and it is a top priority to take care of my body.  Years of working with different personal trainers left me with a fit body but looking for something deeper.  About 12 years ago I dove deep into some heavy personal transformational work and started meditating and studying buddism.  Yoga was the perfect next step as the practice of asana is so much more than a great physical workout.  The balance of physical exertion and mental focus is forever intriguing to me.  My goal is to have my students take even one little thing away from their practice with me.  Something in their body or in their mind based on my dharma talk.  It is an honor, a privlage and a huge responsibility to take care of people and their experience in class and something that I take very seriously each time I walk into teach.

I have 3 permanent Vinyasa and hot yoga classes that I teach every week at two studios in the Twin Cities.  I have been an instructor with Corepower Yoga for the past 13 years and with LIfeCore yoga for the past 8 years.  In addition I just finished guiding the last hot / hot power fusion teacher training for Corepower.

In addition to my teaching I have a "real job".  I own and operate an interior design busines with a small staff in the design center here in Minneapolis.  I also have my own fabric line that I design, have made outside of Shanghai and sell to other designers across the country.  After 28 years in the business I continue to find fulfillment in helping people create great spaces to live in.

I also have a wonderful family and am blessed with 2 fabulous children.  My son just graduated from UW - Stout in WI and my daughter is a junior at Baylor University in central Texas.  In addition I have a fabulous life partner and his two girls in my life.  I am truly a lucky girl.
