I have been practicing yoga since 1978. I finally decided to get my teaching certificate in 2007, and rather than attend a local program, I opted for the real deal at an ashram, so that I could understand the origins of the practice as well learn how to teach. I attended the Sivananda ashram in the Bahamas for an intensive one month 200 hour program, having attended their Vedanta Center in New York City many times. Upon receiving my certificate, I joined Yoga Alliance as a 200 hr YT.
Back home in New Jersey, I taught locally at the Ocean Club and Alliance for Wellness, both in Manahawkin, NJ, as well as my own private classes on Long Beach Island and in Manhattan, NYC, where we owned a co-op. I also continued my yoga studies in NYC, attending workshops and classes with such instructors as Cyndi Lee, Charles Matkin, Alan Finger and many other local yogis.
My husband and I love to travel, and he is no longer bound by corporate vacation rules. Our children are grown and we have no other obligations at home. We have been vacationing in Jamaica since 1998, but have visited many other Caribbean venues, and love them all.
