Melanie Dawn, RYT500

'Reaching Higher Every Day'

Yoga began moving through Melanie Dawn at the age of 9 years.  All her life it's gently moved her forward.  She operates a successful boutique Yoga studio that is established and continues to blossom in Airdrie, Alberta, Canada; aptly named SANGHAYOGA.CA.  Sangha meaning 'community~community of strength'.

Hatha Yoga based, with a multitude of personal and professional experiences, Mel is a devoted Yogini.  Using asana (physical pose), pranayama (energy, breath), guided meditation (dhyana), and alignment/anatomy understanding, she will move you through a Yoga practice that takes you into a new level of personal awareness and strength.

Lighthearted and strong in presence, Mel has studied and embodied Yoga along with some of the best developed Yoga teachers for many years.  She shows up with enthusiasm in present moment awareness consistently, and her life path is to work with others through Yoga helping to create a balance of whole health.

Mel brings with her a solid teaching platform, inspiring and motivational wording, integral knowledge of anatomy, friendliness and sociability, professionalism, and the ability to work with an assortment of physical ailments to facilitate healing.  Her personal style is such that Mel connects with people instantly, clearly and individually.  Spiritually based yet grounded, Mel works with everyone from the inside out; tapping into the strength that is already within.

Eight (ashtanga) limbs of Yoga

Yamas - personal perspectives dealing with society and the world and your relationship to these

Niyamas - dealing with your relationship to your Self; feelings and perceptions

Asana - physical practice of Yoga postures; preparation for meditation, focus, strength, flexibility, body awareness

Pranayama - practicing breath and energy movement and use; purifies and calms the body and mind, aids in regulating metabolism

Pratyahara - withdrawal of senses; outside sounds are no longer noticable

Dharana - a single point of concentration; the mind is relieved and focused

Dhyana - meditation; becoming absorbed with the object of your meditation

Samadhi - a state of meditation/consciousness in which you become one with the object of your meditation - total absorption.  Ahhh, to reach Samadhi! :)

We integrate these aspects into each class, serving to unlock your infinite potential.

Simply going with the flow, travelling to reach more people who will benefit from either starting out new, developing their own practice further or just having fun, Mel is looking forward to sharing time with you on the mat; creating joyful and memorable experiences.

Namaste,

Mel
