Kelly McKimson-Rhodes is a teacher through and through. She has been a devoted high school English teacher for the past nine years and in this time has realized all good teachers are also students. With two Master's degrees under her belt, Kelly takes her teaching and learning seriously, but her yoga practice keeps her lighthearted and grounded. While teaching English remains her career, yoga has become her passion. Kelly came to the mat years ago when she was seeking an exercise program that connected her mind and body; a connection she felt in her younger days as a dancer but felt was lacking in her current time at the gym. After her first vinyasa class, Kelly was hooked. She found yoga not only gave her a great workout but inspired her creatively and kept her mindful and able to handle the stresses of teaching in a more effective way. In order to continue learning about yoga, Kelly completed a 200 hour teacher training with master teacher Margo Kellison in the fall of 2013 at Vessel Yoga in Chicago. Kelly's focus is creative and effective vinyasa sequencing, and her classes draw from her life's work as an educator and are student-centered and reflective. When she's not teaching in the classroom or on the mat, Kelly can be found watching movies with her husband or spotting him in handstand. They love to travel and read and explore their hometown of Chicago. Kelly can't wait to share her knowledge of yoga with others!
