Christian Sjulsen

I've been fit and active for as long as I can remember.  Coming from a family of avid tennis players, I received my first tennis lesson when I was 5 years old and have been exercising ever since.  Whether it's tennis, cycling, running, or weight training, I find that my body just doesn't feel right if I don't get my workout in.

Until a few years ago, however, fitness wasn't my career.  In fact, I was a well-paid lawyer at a large New York law firm, and I exercised mainly on my own and mainly for myself.  After attending some awesome cycling and Pilates classes, however, I was hooked on the idea of group fitness.  After spending the day toiling in obscurity at my job, I found it so invigorating and refreshing to work out with other people in a positive, energetic environment.  And that's what's so great about group fitness - bridging the gap between personal training and a lonely mega-gym experience, a good group fitness class provides an intimate, positive, high energy environment in which to work out and melt away the stress of your day.

I found the concept of group fitness to be such a positive factor in my life that I quit my job as a lawyer and opened my own fitness studio, Torque Cycling & Fitness, so that I could pass along to others the same positive energy that I found in fitness myself.  At Torque, we teach cycling, yoga, and pilates mat classes.  I am also developing a signature class that will hybridize cycling and TRX into one class.
