Colleen Landwerlen

Colleen originally hails from Dallas, Texas. Her passion for Pilates and fitness sprouted from her 22 years combined in classical dance training, performing, and teaching. In 2006 after earning a B.A. in ballet from Point Park University, Colleen spent her next pre-Pilates years working with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Bodiography Contemporary Ballet, and Cincinnati Ballet. Thanks to Maria Caruso, she received her first Pilates Mat and Zumba certification in 2008 and instantly fell in love with teaching fitness. After realizing her desire to continue her Pilates education, she decided to venture to New York City where she now resides teaching Pilates throughout the city. Her comprehensive Pilates certification was completed through her mentor, Roberta Kirschenbaum, at Rolates Pilates, who is an early generation teacher trained by Carola Trier and Kathy Grant. Colleen holds a perinatal certificate through Healthy Moms and is also a certified teacher with the Pilates Method Alliance . Over the years, Colleen has realized her classical ballet background has given her a strong connection in working with clients to correct body alignment in a safe and proper manner. She enjoys being a positive, supportive, and fun instructor, helping others to gain confidence physically so that mentally they can feel more satisfied every day.

Her personal goals and ambitions are to eventually have her own Pilates studio in a warm and homey environment. She embraces all beginners and would love to offer a non-intimidating studio for people of all levels and ages. Safe practice is the key to all types of fitness, which embodies Colleen's outlook to attempting Pilates and any other form of exercise.
