I have been in the fitness affiliated business since I began working at the age of 16. I started working at the YMCA (summer 2000-2006) and initially worked with the summer camp programs but eventually ended up leading teen wellness workshops and programs. I was employed seasonally with the YMCA for six consecutive years. While attending school at James Madison University I worked at the University Recreation Center (UREC) as a Site Manager and official for Intramural Sports. I was in this position for 4 years all while completing my degree. (2002-2006) During the summer of my junior year in college (2005) I was hired as an intern for the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) in Orlando. My job was to supervise the national championship baseball tournaments for the summer. After graduation from JMU I earned a spot to become a Graduate Assistant for the University of West Florida. I worked as the GA for Intramural Sports and Sports Clubs for the Recreation and Sports Services program for two years. (2006-2008). After completion of my Masters in Education I took a job as the Intramural Sports Coordinator with St Mary's University Campus Recreation in San Antonio, TX. (2008-2009). While working for the university I was asked to take my love for fitness to the next level and I was able to obtain my presonal training certification and began teaching my first fitness classes. I taught a Women on Weights class twice a week. In 2009, my husband and I moved to Northern California and began teaching fitness for the United States Air Force for three years. It was before and during this time where I earned my certifications in group fitness, Lemond Cycle and Les Mills International Bodypump. While employed through the USAF I taught seven classes weekly. I taught spin three times a week, postnatal yoga twice a week and Bodypump/bootcamp twice a week. My primary objective while teaching fitness classes for the military was to provide active duty members and their families with a comprehensive fitness program that helped them keep their commission with the military. While teaching at the fitness center on base I also held a job with the DoD as a Work Life Specialist assisting military members and their families during deployments, moving etc. In 2012, I moved to Dayton, ohio where I currently live with my spouse and began teaching fitness classes at LA Fitness in July of 2013. Throughout 2013 I continued my fitness education by pursuing a certification to teach yoga through a Yoga Alliance affiliated program. Since working at LA Fitness I currently teach four yoga classes a week and one spin class. I am also asked to sub at Innerdance Yoga Studio to teach Pre-natal yoga on a regular basis.
