I grew up in Floyds Knobs Indiana where I attended Floyd Central High School. I went on to play tennis for one of the best tennis coaches and one of the best high school programs in the state of Indiana. While playing at Floyd Central I helped lead my teams to two final four appearances as well as many individual All-State honors in both singles and doubles.
After my high school career I had many offers to play college tennis. Mostly Division II schools but a couple Division I schools also. Many small injuries led me to make the tough decision to stop playing competitive tennis and attend Indiana University in Bloomington Indiana where I graduated in May of 2013 with a Bachelors degree in Sports Marketing and Management. I stayed with the game of tennis while in college as I became the men's tennis manager where I learned a lot about the game of tennis at a whole different level.
Every summer I returned home to teach tennis with my high school coach at his many summer tennis camps. That experience led me to my decision to try and teach tennis as much as possible. It eventually led to getting my USPTA certification which I have had for 6 years now. I am currently employed by Indiana University as I am a tennis professional at the Indiana University Tennis Center. I teach a wide range of age groups at the tennis center as I give lessons to adults aged 70+ but I also give lessons and run clinics with kids aged 5+. So there is really no age group that I am unfamiliar with. I enjoy teaching more and more everyday and my dream is to one day teach full time at a resort much like the ones I may visit one day.
