I'm an active, athletic, fitness and outdoor industry professional. My yoga instruction style is a flow yoga or alignment yoga style. I've also taught a variety of other classes at a variety of fitness facilities.
I'm not your typical Boulder, Co Yogi, I teach my yoga classes based on my goal of making people's bodies feel better. I know sanskrit terms but I rarely use them, I don't expect every student to know the name of a pose, so I talk them through it - starting with basic alignment. I teach breathing, but I don't ask that my students practice it. I want my students to take yoga where they want to for their own body and mind. I want them to mold their practice to what works for them and for what is true to them.
I work a full-time job and teach yoga classes. Teaching yoga is my way to give back to my community. It helps me serve my need to be away from a full-time desk job and also provides me the opportunity to serve other people who come to yoga class for some time to decompress from their day, stretch their bodies, and feel a little more centered.
I've taught yoga in various settings, but my favorite is at Lakeshore Athletic Club - the fitness center clientele are so wonderful as students and always appreciative and kind. They are also "regulars", because they are members of the fitness center - so I've been able to create more personal connections and build relationships with them.
