William A Shardlow

Bill’s tennis-teaching career started in 1976 as a HS tennis coach.  He was first certified by the PTR in 1978 and was Director of Tennis and head teaching professional at Point Sebago Resort. From 1978 to1988, Bill was Director of Tennis at Purity Spring Resort in East Madison, NH.        

After spending a ten-year hiatus from tennis raising his two sons, Bill returned to the courts and was Co-Director of ShardlowTennis Academies traveling around the state to provide quality tennis instruction for advanced juniors. As well, he was the Women's Varsity Tennis coach at Windham High School and a part-time assistant pro at the private Woodlands Club in Falmouth, ME.  

He continues his tennis teaching experience by being the MS and HS Varsity coach in Yarmouth, Maine. His boy's team is defending Class B State Champions and he was Coach of the Year in 2019. He is presently on the staff at Portland Country Cub, Maine's oldest and most prestigious private country club. He has been a visiting tennis professional at Couples Swept Away and Couples Sans Souci and always looks forward to returning.

Bill is a certified USPTA (elite professional rating) and PTR tennis professional, as well as a member of the United States Racket Stringers Association.

A professional educator for 45+ years as well, Bill brings his teaching experience, high level of enthusiasm, and positive attitude to every tennis endeavor.
