Chandra Hampton

My fitness journey started at the age of 12 years old as a member of my schools' volleyball and track teams. I continued on playing volleyball through high school and college, but found it very difficult to continue team sports once I began working after graduating from college. Over the next several years and a 30lb. weight gain, I found a gym and decided to try this Zumba Fitness class that people raved about. From the first class, I knew that I had to teach be a part of this movement as an instructor. My natural dance ability, leadership skills and fitness background made this workout perfect for me.

In December 2011, I received my license to teach Zumba Fitness and began teaching my own class at Washington Sports Club in the Georgetown area of Washington D.C. less than a year later. In June of 2013, I received a contract with the Victor Building, an office building in downtown D.C., to be the Zumba Fitness instructor for their tenants. Due to a high level of interest in more classes from participants, I began teaching additional classes at Flashpoint-Coors dance studio in November of 2013.

Aside from my 30lb weight loss, I have started my annual Zumbathon fundraiser for ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in honor of my father, participated in and have been featured in a host of special events for fitness including Kaiser Permanente's Mid-Western conference and NBC4's Health & Fitness Expo.

I am currently filming my first video promotional for my Zumba Fitness classes and look forward to leading others to health and happiness.
