When my father passed away in 2010, I took some time off from my job within Corporate America and knew I did not want to go back. Having no clue as to what I would do to provide for my daughter who was in her first year of college out of state, I prayed about it. I attended a Zumba® class and finally decided to ask the Instructor how she got involved teaching it. I signed up for a Zumba® Basic Level 1 class and in the midst of that session, I enrolled in the Basic Level 2 class which would occur the next day.
Zumba® encourages their Instructors to increase their knowledge by either becoming a Certified Personal Trainer, Group Instructor or both. After returning to work in 2011, I opted to become a Trainer. Soon after, I started a Boot Camp at my job that met twice per week immediately after work. As it grew, I began weighing my options to Instruct on a full-time basis. Wanting to do more for my community to combat obesity and the lack of exercise that children and our elders get, I began to enroll in more Zumba® specialties. My rationale was simply to provide varying options to appeal to people of all ages.
The Pole Fitness was something that I began as a student and before long was approached by the owner to begin instructing classes. With my knowledge of the muscle groups, I instructed a Boot Camp there, for a short time a Zumba® class, pole & lap dance classes and one of the most popular classes, Pole Fit. This class involves varying exercises utilizing the pole to increase core & upper body strength.
I am happy to say that it was my pole fitness background combined with my Aqua Zumba®️ license that led me to Acquapole®️. My extensive training has allowed me to become an Acquapole®️ Master Trainer with hopes of expanding this format worldwide.
It is my desire to continue to bring fitness to people of each gender and every age. My contribution may seem small but I plan to make a deep impact.
