I am a 3rd degree black belt in tae kwon do. I have been training in that art for 15 years. I have participated in cardio kickboxing for 15 years also. I have taught cardio kickboxing classes for 13 years. In 2005, I began competing in figure competitions. I have competed 8 times placing as high as second. After 2 competitions, I began studying to become an ACE certified personal trainer. I also began training clients. At one point I had over 20 clients and corporate accounts with local grocery stores, dental offices, & other businesses running weight loss challenges. I also worked as part of a sciatica study group as a trainer at Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. With my figure competition experience, I have trained 4 women for figure competitions, 1 woman for a bikini.Competition, and 1 man for a bodybuilding competition. Although I had a career as a special education teacher, when my personal training business began doing so well, I resigned from my job as a special educator to train full time. A few years later the recession hit. Many people could no longer justify the expense of a personal trainer. I tried to get back into the field of education but because this field was in a financial crisis I found it impossible to get hired having 15 years experience and a Master's Degree. Eventually I began working at John Deere while still teaching cardio kickboxing and training a few clients. The one client I trained for a body building competition has gone on to complete a marathon and Tough Mudder competition.
My passion for fitness is strong and consistent for myself but more importantly for others. I work very hard at what I do by planning out each training session or class ahead of time in order to bring my clients the most effective workout I can. To reach another demographic far outside the community I live in by working for Fitness Pro Travel would be an honor. I hope you will consider my application.
