My name is Christina Lee. As a fitness instructor, I believe that everyone has within them an athlete of some type just waiting to 'flex' their muscles. From trained professional dancers, triathletes, and folks who play many different sports (from 'weekend warriors' those belonging to collegiate teams), to people who are physically or otherwise challenged, seniors, and toddlers! everyone can benefit from being active and anyone can tap into their 'inner athlete' if they are patient, creative, willing to try new things, and to be consistant once they find an activity they like and that works. These are just some of the special populations with which I have had the privilige of working in a fitness-related capacity over the years. One of my most rewarding challenges as a teacher and a trainer is to find a pace (a 'happy medium', with options that may be more challenging along with those that can help participants 'back-off' if they feel the need to) that works for a variety of fitness and experience levels and to customize workouts and to tailor ongoing fitness plans according to the individual, while with offering exciting, effective group sessions. I love to combine unusual styles for fun, unique 'cross-training' (such as cardiokickboxing, and power yoga in one class, swing dance and body sculpt in another), that can even enhance someone's confidence and self-esteem along with their resting metabolic rate, muscle tone, etc. I feel that the rewards of a variety of physical activity are extremely important for one's overall well-being, including mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, along with the healthy benefits to the body. Flexibility in fitness training (literally and figuratively) is extremely benificial, therefore I try to promote accessibility in the programs, classes, routines, and exercises to which I introduce people from all walks of life. 'Stretch of the Imagination' is a flexible, encompassing course I have designed and led (copyright pending), which incorporates yoga, other fitness styles, and other arts (visual, literary, performing), which is intended to also have a community outreach aspect, which taps into participants' individual interests, goals, energy, experience and physical strength along with their creativity, and sense of community. Physical fitness should be available to anyone, and I believe with the right instruction and training, it can be.
