Hello! Call me MJ. I have enjoyed teaching fitness of all formats since my humble beginnings in the army where I regularly “maxed” my Physical Fitness test in push-ups, sit-ups, and the 2 mile run. In the army, I became a master fitness trainer as well as a chemical officer. I can teach an authentic boot camp!
A lovely German woman taught me how to lead step aerobics in 1991. Once you can do that, all other fitness formats are a cinch! I have a 1st degree black belt in Chun Kuk Do - a karate style martial art. That experience led me to be a women's safety trainer and a kickboxing instructor. Over the years many different CEC classes have taught me wonderful new exercises, formats, and philosophies. Yoga was a wonderful yin addition to my yang personality. I just recently began teaching water aerobics – another fantastic fitness option especially for those folks with joint issues.
Throughout my fitness journey I became a wife and a mother as well as a chemist, environmental scientist, and a chemistry teacher. I am now a mom of 4 children ages 20, 18, 14, 13 and the wife of a COL in the US Army.
