Joel Silvestro

Joel Silvestro is a long-time favorite member of the swing, ballroom, and vintage dance communities across New England for his gentleman charm, expert dance skills and musicality, his sense of humour, playfulness, and his "joie de vivre".  He began his dance career in California as a former Arthur Murray instructor and dance trouper. He continued his passion for the history of dance as founder of the "Prim and Not-to-Proper" costumed vintage dancers, and is a long time active member of Connecticut's swing dance performance troupe the Rhythm Rousers.  Joel continues to instruct and perform, and is sought after to teach special group dance lessons with dance styles from the Civil War era through the 1950s. He is presently a member of the Stardust Dancers and The Dancer Duo, with Prudence Sloane. Teamed with Prudence’s dancing grace, playfulness and stage presence this duo combines dances and music of all eras, theatrics, costumes and choreography into fun and entertaining dance vignettes. Along with performing they engage audiences of all ages teaching line dances and ballroom dances. When he’s not dancing, he’s busy, as resident wig and hairstylist for several of Connecticut's professional and local theaters, and owner of the hair styling salon with his wife Linda.
