Sandi Rupprecht

SANDRA L. RUPPRECHT, R.Y T.

I have always been a very active and athletic person, enjoying many different activies.  I was first introduced to yoga almost seven years ago.  Yoga quickly became an activity that became not only a compliment to running and playing tennis, but something that I craved in my busy life of raising two young children and a newborn.  For me, it was an escape from my busy, hetic life of a "stay home" mom.  My decision to become a yoga instructor was quite by happenstance.  We were on a family vacation at a resort in Mexico and each morning I looked forward to taking the fun yoga class by the pool, overlooking the ocean.  I got to know the yoga teacher and found out that she was from Chicago and was a guest teacher at the resort, I'm sure similarly placed by a company like Fit Bodies, Inc.  I remember going back to my pool side chair and telling my husband I was going to become a yoga teacher so that one day I could teach at an amazing resort too.  In my former life, I was CPA and also worked in Human Resources, a far cry from teaching yoga.   My husband just smiled, but determined that I was, I returned from my trip and looked into signing up for my teacher training.  I had a wonderful relationship with owner of Forever Om Yoga in Lake Forest, Illinois and during my training she became a mentor to me and provided me with additional training and hands on experience.  After 7 months of teacher training and an additional 4 months of coaching and teaching free classes at Forever Om Yoga, I was given my first class in July 2012.  I have been teaching at the Studio ever since and have expanded my role there and am now the Studio Manager.  I have many responisibiies at the Studio, but my passion is teaching.  I love to teach all ages and currently run the Tweens and Family Yoga programs at our Studio.  I also have planned and held a variety of workshops, most recently two workshops this winter focusing on detoxing the mind, body and spirit.  I have found that everyone can do yoga in some capacity, regardless of age, experience, or physical abilites and what it can do to the minds and bodies of those who practice is quite amazing.  I love to teach and love the connections I have made with my students.

In my time away from practicing yoga or managing our Studio, I am busy raising three amazing kids.  They are all active as well, each playing travel soccer and swimming (they sneak in some yoga too!).  My husband and I love to travel, some of my favorite places are Californina Wine Country, Mexico and Europe.  In my free time, I like to cook (especially baking), read, garden, knit and needlepoint, and I also love curl up and watch a good movie.  Activites outside of yoga include: skiing, waterskiing, hiking, sailing, tennis, Paddle Tennis and running. Most recently, we have added a dog to our family and he keeps me on my toes.

Teaching yoga at a resort would be such a dream come true for me.  It would bring me back full circle to why I decide to become a yoga teacher in the first place. I truly look forward to this amazing experience!
