Cassidy Hewitt, RYT 200, has been an avid yoga student since 2003. Shortly after the birth of her first child, she found herself in a new city, with a new baby and very little energy. She had previously been an avid runner, but couldn’t muster the energy to get outside and find her way around her new town. In a closet of the house she was renting, she found a yoga dvd. Without any knowledge of “power yoga”, and thinking it would provide a relaxing stretch, she put it in and fumbled her way through her first, very challenging, asana practice. In the days that followed, she was sore in places she didn’t know she had muscles. Within a few weeks of a regular home practice, her body began to change, she regained energy, and began to notice an even deeper change... mentally, emotionally, and spiritually she started to feel balanced, rooted and grounded. And she was hooked. What started as a way to get back in shape had quickly become a means to dive deeper into her faith, her family and her self.
Cassidy’s enthusiasm and passion for yoga and it’s benefits led her to complete teacher training with New Day Yoga in Kennesaw, GA in 2009. She loves practicing all forms of yoga, both on and off the mat, and constantly maintains the heart of a student, seeking out workshops, texts, and instructors who present new ideas, methods, and techniques. Though her personal practice includes vinyasa, bhakti, hot yoga, and power yoga, she also includes gentle, restorative and yin to balance out her body. In addition to yoga, Cassidy continues to be an avid runner, completing 2 marathons, numerous triathlons, and maintaining a consistent weight training regimen, but yoga brings the balance she continues to seek. As a teacher, she is most passionate about helping her students understand the union of breath and movement, to help deepen their practice, find space in their bodies, and restore peace in heart and mind. When she’s not on a mat, on the run, at the gym, on a bike, or in the water, you will find her enjoying time with her family.
