i'm an active person with tons of energy. i have a deep passion for connecting with people in healthy ways and strive to bring the best out of me and my environment. my personal mission statement is, "i translate deeper experiences of life" and this defines my role as a yoga teacher and as a professional actress.

presenting in front of large crowds excites me. i thrive on being with others as much as i need solo meditation time. i love teaching workshops and am thoroughly confident and capable of teaching everyone from beginners to advanced practitioners in many systems of yoga and cardio kick boxing. for yoga, i can comfortably teach everything from power vinyasa to restorative to prenatal to yoga nidra (yoga sleep) to kids and family yoga and more.

i love traveling. i've lived in korea and traveled in 17 countries including bhutan and australia. teaching yoga and traveling is a dream for me!

here is my official yoga bio. please let me know if there's more info i can provide and thanks!

Mia Park teaches yoga to facilitate a deeper, more meaningful experience of life. She draws from Vedic and tantric techniques from India and China that use the breath, the body, and the movement of energy to cultivate focus, awareness and power. Based in Chicago, she teaches weekly tantra yoga and yoga nidra classes and loves leading workshops. Mia is excited to teach at six yoga and music festivals in 2014. Mia is initiated in the Sri Vidya lineage and is certified in the Darshan System as an Integrative Ayurvedic Practitioner and Advanced Yoga Teacher. She is also a certified ParaYoga and Rest and Renew teacher, 500 E-RYT, and writes for Yoga Chicago Magazine. She manifests it all thanks to a dedicated meditation practice and with the grace and guidance from her teachers.

Mia found yoga while teaching cardio kick boxing in 2002 and brings a warm, fun attitude to this ancient science of self evolution. Her teachings emphasize the awareness of prana (energy). Energetic balance is a key element in Mia’s class whether she’s teaching vigorous, pre-natal or restorative yoga.

Always athletic, Mia was a competing gymnast and studied kung fu and the ancient Korean martial art taekyun for almost twenty years. Yoga offered her the perfect blend of physical well being with internal peace that Mia needed to balance her active life style of playing in rock bands and professionally acting.

Mia currently teaches at Moksha Yoga Center, to private clients, and volunteer instructs at a domestic violence shelter for women and in Cook County women's prison. She writes for YogaChicago Magazine, is the Chicago editor for Origin Magazine and Mantra Magazine and is a brand ambassador for Manduka and Three Minute Egg yoga products.

Mia trains extensively and broadly in yoga. She is currently learning Sanskrit, Chinese tantric techniques and Vedic philosophy from Jim Kulackoski at Darshan Center. She also studies in the tantric lineage of Sri Vidya with Rod Stryker and his teacher Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Ph.D. Mia also learns techniques from the Desikchar tradition with Gary Kraftsow and Chase Bossart. In the Iyengar/alignment tradition, Mia studied with Aadil Palkhivala, Gabrielle Halpern and Barbara Benagh. Mia learns Ayurveda from Jim Kulackoski and has studied with the great Dr. Robert Svoboda. Nicholai Bachman is another Ayureda teacher she studies with and learns Sanskrit from. She's learned when to apply appropriate force in yoga from Ana Forrest, when to soften and think from Swami Shankardev, and when to laugh from Dharma Mittra and Mark Whitwell. Through her constant studying, Mia has learned that the most important teacher is her highest self.
