Neil McGuffog

Neil is an avid promoter of an active, movement-based lifestyle. His passion is helping individuals initiate behavior changes that lead to a better health status. And yoga provides a powerful pathway to help guide people along their journey of change and self-discovery. Neil received his 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certification in Indianapolis at Cityoga under the watchful tutelage of teachers Nikki Myers and Marsha Pappas.  RYT was earned in February 2013.

As a runner for more than 25 years with 13 years of corporate wellness experience, Neil began his yoga practice in December 2010 to help balance the effects of long-distance running (he has completed numerous half marathons, and four marathons – including the New York City Marathon). He is currently studying for the Certified Personal Trainer designation from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

Yoga’s focus on breath and movement has helped Neil embrace the many changes in his life as he looks ahead to reinventing himself in life after age 50. He brings an attitude of gratitude to the mat for each class. His desire for each class participant is for them to find love, acceptance, strength, and serenity while being fully present on their mats.

Neil began teaching in December 2012 starting instructing Hatha and Vinyasa classes at two Lifetime Fitness locatins.  Later he added Cityoga, Butler University,The Bridgewater Country Club and several corporate settings in the Greater Indianapolis area focusing on different class styles including hatha, slow-flow, and vinyasa yoga. He has also presented yoga workshops for beginners and runners.

Neil is an active member of Toastmasters International (Classic Communicator club), is a former board member of the Carmel Runners Club, and coordinates the karma yoga project at The Julian Center.
