Matthew Carney

Howdy!  Matthew here.  Here’s a little about my training career….

 

In 2005 I graduated from UT-Austin with a BSc in Kinesiology, earned CPT, CSCS & FMS certifications, and interned at Train 4 The Game Austin.  Here I gained experience training college and professional golf, tennis, and basketball players, as well as direct tutelage from Coach Wright.

After college I moved to San Diego to train at Frog’s Fitness and study Massage Therapy at Encinitas Holistic, then moved to LA and practiced at Beverly Hills Health & Fitness, and Kate Somerville Salon on Melrose Place.  My gym & spa clientele here weren’t as athletic…but certainly more glamorous!

In 2006 I moved to New York and trained at the famous Chelsea Piers Sportscenter, which is an amazing sports facility on the West Side (and not to be missed on a visit to NYC!)  In Chelsea had the opportunity to work with many fashion models, and also began studying Stott Pilates on 23rd & Park.  Here I began a study of slim muscle sculpting and movement patterning– which serves a dual purpose– to sculpt the slimmest body, and keep the joints and spine healthy.

In 2010 I founded VBodies as a private enterprise and took my training ideas on the road.  I have developed Victory Bodies– a complete slimming, sculpting, and healing fitness regimen based around Pilates, weightlifting, aerobic exercise, and nutrition.  I currently teach at Bay Club Cupertino and study Pilates at Center of Balance in Mountain View.
