Carmen Pirsan

I am a licensed Zumba basic, Zumba gold, and Zumba toning instructor. Also, Core First instructor.

I can do aqua exercises, advanced stretch, sculpt, abs work, kickboxing, and toning.

I was born and raised in Romania, where dancing has been part of my life since I can remember as a little girl. I was always playing sports, and I was very active. I graduated high school in 1984. In 1985 I got married. In 1990 I had my daughter. In 1992 I moved to the US with my husband and my daughter to have a better life and offer my daughter better opportunities to succeed. My husband and I used to work 2 to 3 jobs each to make a living, but we didn't complain: We were happy that we could work, make money and save money. In 1995 we bought our first house and started going on vacation. We love to travel all over.

In 2004 I got my real estate license. I still worked hard, but I began to go to fitness and dance classes. In 2009 I discovered Zumba Fitness, becoming a Zumba addict and promoter to all my friends, family, and colleagues. I became known as Zumba Carmen ;)  In  August 2011, while I visited my daughter in CA, I got my Zumba Basic certification. My father was at a nursing home, and I wanted to do something useful for the residents and the ladies who worked there, so I got my Zumba Gold certification and started having classes with the residents. I never asked to be paid for it.

I continued to teach Zumba classes in multiple places over the years. On July 2012, I got the certification for Zumba toning because I wanted to help my students tone their arms and body on top of the great cardio which Zumba offered. In April 2012, when I was on vacation in Punta Cana, the resort I stayed in didn't have Zumba, so I asked the activity director if he wanted me to have a class for them. I had my I-pod with me with Zumba music ready to use it. I ended up having two types two days in a row. It was magic, and I loved that people from all over the world took part in it and enjoyed it. In 2013 again on vacation, I had two Zumba classes on the beach. I offer free Zumba classes outdoors every summer in my development for the neighbors, friends, and family, which everyone enjoys, from kids to grandmas. No matter where I am, I can start dancing on the spot and get people involved. I participated in numerous Zumbathons with other friends, Zumba instructors, relays for life, and breast cancer races for life, where I danced to warm up the participants before the race. I was featured in the 1st Zumba magazine with the rest of my group at the breast cancer event. I did Zumba classes at a fundraising event at the church; I did Zumba classes at events for food donations. The latest is the Zumbathon I organized on Oct 19th to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association. I did it in memory of my father, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease in his last years. Together with all the participants, we raised almost $4.000, which I am very proud about.

I love Zumba and the impact it has on people's lives and the friendship which is activated between people. Zumba=, happy times, is like a glue that brings people together and keeps it that way. I honestly can't see myself without Zumba in my life, the joy it brings me, and everyone who participates. I just returned from my 5th teaching vacation, and I can honestly say that joining the Fit Bodies teaching vacation is the best thing I have done since becoming a Zumba instructor. I love to teach Zumba at the resorts and spread joy.
