I have my own Nia classes at The Atlantic Coast Athletic Club (ACAC) and teach twice a week, plus do quite a bit of subbing for other teacher. I also have had 8 week Nia classes at the Chrysalis Institute in Carytown, Richmond, VA. I have been a fitness/nutrition speaker and I used to competitively body build. I discovered Nia when recuperating from a broken ankle. I immediately took my white belt to be certified to teach, then my green belt, then my blue, and this year my brown belt. The Nia Technique is such an all-encompassing way of exercising. While it is a fusion of 3 dance forms, 3 of the healing arts, and the essence of the 3 of the martial arts, it is adaptable for all ages, body types, and athletic abilities. We have a healthy, thriving Nia community in Richmond, Virginia, which I am proud to say that I have had a small part in growing.
While teaching Nia I became interested in a new exercise based on the science of neuroplasticity. Ageless Grace is a core based exercise and is done while seated, to target the core. All five areas of the brain are used as well as it being a systemic exercise. While my classes target the middle-aged and seniors, it is also wonderful for school aged children (who need it desperately). I conduct training weekends 3 - 4 times a year for those interested in becoming certified educators
I have been AFAA certified, although I haven't been able to renew that certification this year. I have been a real estate broker for the last 29 years as well as run my fitness business. I am single and have six grandchildren, ranging in age from 7 years to 5 months.
I have traveled extensively and done a number of mission trips to different continents. I love the different cultures and meeting people and introducting them to Nia is a passion.
