Laura Mickelson

I have been teaching Yoga for over 14 years.  I received my 200 hr. Yoga Teacher Certification through Lillah Schwartz in Asheville, NC and my 300 Yoga Teacher Certification with a focus on therapeutics at Asheville Yoga Center.   I have also trained with internationally recognized Yoga teachers Amy Ippoliti and Leslie Kaminoff. 

Prior to teaching Yoga, I taught group fitness classes for over 25 years, including Zumba, step aerobics, cardiokick, and body sculpting with weights.  Yoga has taught me so much more than exercise.  It has helped me realize that in order to be healthy and happy, I must recognize the inter-connectedness of my own mind, body & spirit.  Yoga lead me to integrate healthy lifestyle choices that includes not only physical exercise, but also meditation, mindfulness, breath awareness, and healthy eating.  At 58 years young, I am stronger and more fit than ever before.

My desire and intention is to help others discover the joys of a regular Yoga practice that I have found - to relieve pain in the body & mind, find balance, strength, flexibility and stress relief.  My philosophy is that Yoga is a wholeness approach to creating balance in life and can benefit everyone if the mind is open to new possibilities, the body is ready to be challenged, and the spirit is ready to soar!!
