My name is Pamela ""Mela Berger"". I am the Director and founder of the Caribbean Institute of Healing and Cultural Arts where I train internationally certified massage therapists. CIHCA, celebrating it’s 6th birthday this week, is an independent affiliate of The International School of Bodywork in San Diego, California. IPSB is one of the oldest and most renowned schools of bodywork in the world with campuses in Amsterdam, Tel Aviv and South Africa.
My 25 year private practice is The BodyWork Clinic offering Integrated Therapies. I have a substantial client list including the US, Europe and South America. I was the manager of the spa at Pemberton’s Villa Nova, Country House. I designed spa services and personal development retreats. Pemberton was awarded best boutique hotel in the world in 2003 for Villa Nova. Set in the Barbados rain forest I worked as a consultant and therapist with Villa Nova from opening to closing. My work there has been very favorably reviewed in Vogue, Harper’s, the Tatler and Destination Magazine.
I was also the lead therapist for ten years at the five star La Salle Club. The La Salle Club is an Equity ownership health club and Hotel aligned with The Everest Room located at One Financial Place in Chicago.
I currently offer retreats and treatments for guests of private Villas and upscale hotels in Barbados. (St. Philip, Sandy Lane Estates, Glitter Bay Royal Pavilion and others)
I am a somatic psychologist, bodyworker and personal trainer. I do nutritional and herbal counseling. I have over 30 years of training and experience. A graduate of the International Professional School of Bodywork, International Academy of Neuromuscular Therapy and The National Academy of Sports Medicine, United States International University, San Diego Mesa College and University of San Diego, San Diego State University. I have also been a serious dancer since the age of three. This adds up to a deep and holistic understanding of body mechanics and a strong ability to help resolve soft tissue and alignment problems and emotional one may have.
I specialize in holistic bodywork , herbs and nutrition, therapeutic movement and holistic education.
I teach massage therapy classes both fundamental and continuing education.
I have designed a core training class, Inercise, which I taech as group exercise. Inercise is a unique blend of Pilates, Bartenief, Qi Gong, Yoga and other stretches. Improves core strength, flexibility, posture, mental clarity, lung capacity, energy level & general fitness. Inercise is a great pain and stress reliever.
I also teach Gravity Pilates Similar to a reformer, Gravity Pilates advances accessibility with adaptable GTS equipment.
The modalities I specialize in are Structural Integration (Rolfing), Maya Abdominal Massage, Somato-Emotional Release, NeuroMuscular Therapy, Sensory Repatterning and Thai/Shiatsu Massage.
