After cheering competitively for six years I wanted to do something to still stay active, so I trained to become a group exercise instructor. I began teaching group exercise in 1999, became the group exercise manager at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and won the Group Exercise Instructor of the year award for 2001-2003. After obtaining my BS degree in Community Health Education, I continued my education at the University of Georgia and also continued teaching aerobics. After finishing my Masters in Public Health, I got a job at Georgia Power Company as the Fitness Coordinator for the corporate wellness center.
