Mary Kelly Birkmeier

I became fascinated with Yoga and its philosophies through a personal quest to "live in the moment". After experiencing the transformative power of Yoga personally I became interested in sharing its benefits with others.  I share group and private yoga at my own studio. My responsibilty as an instructor is to encourage and help individuals develop an appreciation of the benefits of regular yoga practice. In my instruction I stress that yoga is for the mind, body and spirit and I encourage my clients not to approach their yoga practice with a competitive "gym" mentality. It is my belief that because our bodies are unique no two bodies will acheive the same "perfect" yoga pose. I encourage clients to focus on the process of getting into the pose rather than an end picture of what is perceived as "the perfect" position. My classes range from gentle flow vinyasa to a more intense power vinyasa. I incorporate Kundalini type practices and place a strong emphasis on breathwork. Sessions are ended with meditaion and inspired readings. I feel my classes offer an appropriate balance of intesity and relaxation resulting in an uplifting and reflective experience. Buoyant Yoga: Anchored Mind-Lifted Spirit.

Additionally I own an Interior Design business and published a coffee table book in 2014 entitled "The Dogs of Les Cheneaux". I have always loved travel and have bareboat chartered extensively in the Carribean. I spend summers in Northern Michigan with my family where we race sailboats. I am married with two grown daughters.
