My working career actually began in the US Army in 1967 - 1970. I served 15 Months in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star. My time in the military was my first experience with established fitness guidelines and performance goals. I found this type of structure to be very beneficial and rewarding.
After my discharge in 1970, I completed my college education in 1974 with a focus in Marketing. Importantly, I continued to leverage fitness in my lifestyle. Since that time, I have actually had two successful careers in Marketing. I spent 20 years with the Wm.Wrigley, Jr. Company and retired in 1994 as Director of Key Accounts for the SE Division. In 1994 I started my second career in the Document Management Industry completing 14 years with the Konica Minolta Company and 5 Years with Canon where I retired in 2013 as Director of Marketing for the SE Region. Throughout my two careers, I continued to maintain a lifestyle that included better health and fitness. It was my continued focus on fitness and applicable lifestyle that help drive my careers and helped relieve the stress and fatigue of the required long hours in the corporate world.
Since my retirement, I have focused on the Health and Fitness Industry as a way of life, and the opportunity to learn how to help others create a better lifestyle for themselves. I have now been NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) certified in the industry almost two years and continue to learn and create additional avenues for people to better overcome the typical barriers, i.e. time, unrealistic goals, social physique anxiety, and convenience. I like to keep it basic, progress driven and realistic for my clients. I enjoy the one on one atmosphere with my clients especially if they are intrinsically motivated. If they are extrinsically motivated, I encourage a partner or small group environment. My goals are to continue to learn, evaluate and incorporate industry trends to develop better programs for my clients to reach their goals.
