I have been an all-around athlete my entire life, but my main sport was gymnastics. After injuring myself during a gymnastics workout in my late twenties, to keep in shape, I began to take aerobic classes at the gymnastic center I worked out at. This was a combination hi/lo and step aerobic class. Within half a year, in 1994, I went from a class participant to the class’ instructor. Originally I was certified through NDEITA, but as I continued to grow in the profession, I also became certified through the YMCA and AFAA. I taught step and hi/lo aerobics faithfully for the YMCA of Greater Rochester’s Southwest branch from 1995-2004. During that time I also started my own fitness business, Victory Fitness. I provide fitness workshops and classes to various organizations around town, fitness music to instructors, and test preparation classes for those interested in becoming group fitness instructors. Currently, through my business, I am teaching 16 classes a week for six different organizations. I am also preparing to launch an E-commerce site to sell fitness music, books, and clothing. My group fitness specialties are Hula Hoop, Soul Line Dance, Pilates, Senior Fitness, kickboxing, Zumba Gold, step, and hi/lo. I also mix a lot of boot camp and sculpting into my classes as well. I have taught a wide range of fitness levels - from advanced kickboxing and step to senior citizens, but the group I enjoy teaching the most are beginners. Being a teacher by nature, I enjoy introducing people to new experiences and watching them learn and grow.
