Deborah Fryer

I have been practicing yoga and meditation since 1994 and have been teaching since 2001. I had completed nine marathons and dozens of triathlons, and my joints were beginning to ache from the relentless pounding. Yoga proved to be the perfect balance between strength and flexibility, challenge and relaxation, discipline and surrender that my body was craving.

I have received formal training in many modalities of yoga, including Ashtanga, Anusara, Iyengar, Vinyasa and Yoga Nidra. My teachers include Richard Freeman, David Swenson, John Friend, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, and Gurucharan Singh. I have also studied with Barbara Benagh, Baron Baptiste, Shiva Rae, Seane Corn, Tias Little, Sarah Powers, Suddha Wechsler and Jai Dev Singh.

My teaching style is both athletic and energetic, and also compassionate and gentle. I tailor my classes to all levels of experience. I weave alignment, anatomy, and yogic philosophy into each class. I help students surrender to the awareness of whatever arises each time we step on the mat. Students leave class feeling empowered, flexible, strong, confident, self-loving and deeply relaxed in mind, body and spirit.

In addition to my yoga teaching and philosophy training, I have completed a post-baccalaureate pre-medical program, and worked in an anatomy lab for two years, so I bring science and spirituality into every class. I'm also a certified tapping (emotional freedom technique) coach, so this is one more tool I'm able to share with clients looking for transformation and personal development.

I have completed over 1000 hours of teacher training and continuing education, and I have over 10,000 hours of teaching yoga and meditation. I have taught students as young as three and as old as eighty.
