Michelle Szames

I have always been an active person, and am passionate about fitness and leading a healthy lifestyle.

After leaving a career as a law clerk for a prominate criminal lawyer, I was lucky to be a mom-at-home raising 3 active boys. I was always involved in physical activites, be it power walking, running, racquet ball and going to fitness classes.

After a life-altering event 7 years ago, and while continuing my fitness classes, I decided to re-invent myself and become a fitness instructor. I went back to the classroom and started the program. I started teaching right after I got certified. About 6 months into teaching, I decided to enhance my skills and got certified as a personal trainer. I started to work with a few clients, but found I enjoyed group fitness better. I then took a indoor cycling certification and added that skill to my repitoire. In addition to the many CEC courses that are required to keep up my certification, I am constantly reading and self-educating myself to become a better instructor for myself and my participants.

I never imagained that I would be standing in front of a group of people instructing a fitness class. I love what I do and it feels like I was meant to do this type of work.

My biggest compliment came when a participant commented on how much she enjoyed my class. She asked how long I had been teaching. When I told her 6 months, she was so surprised. She thought I had been teaching for at least 10 years or more!

My sons are all grown up now and so very proud to have witnessed the re-invention of their mom. What I am most proud of is the example I have showed them of my strength, resilance and determination.
