My journey has taken me around the country, from the mountains to the islands and back home again. I learned a lot about what nourishes me, from the inside out. I have worn many hats and tried many different life styles. This is what I know for sure….
Real health isn’t counting calories, abstaining from foods you love and ignoring parts of your being that are crying for attention.
Real health is tuning in to what you need to create a vibrant, passionate life right now.
It is finding happiness in the small gifts of the present moment.
It is eating nourishing, local foods that create the energy you long for every day.
It is honoring where you are and where you want to be. It is giving yourself permission to change course midstream and flow in another direction. It is tuning in to the feeling of what you want and showing up for the life you want to live every day.
A brief overview of my professional journey and trainings...
In my late 20s, I was at a crossroads. I found myself at 28 in a career as a pharmaceutical rep that by all appearances was the pinnacle of success. I knew there was a different path, one that would allow my mind, heart, body and soul to align with my dharma. I began my journey then into yoga and wellness, and since then have dedicated myself to this path. I graduated from The Institute of Integrative Nutrition in 2011 and am a Certified Holistic Health Counselor. I completed my 200 hr yoga training with Sean Johnson and Mitchel Bleier, a Bhakti based training termed Soul School, at Wild Lotus Yoga in New Orleans, as well as received my 95 hr RCYT from Next Generation Yoga, a yoga certification for teaching kids, tweens and teens. I taught at Wild Lotus for 6 years and developed the first dedicated tween yoga classes in New Orleans. I developed a yoga, mindfulness and wellness curriculum that I brought to many area schools, including Ursuline, Ben Franklin and Cathedral Montessori School, teaching all ages from 3 to 18 years old. In 2018 I opened Vista Yoga & Wellness, a community based yoga studio in Lake Vista, a neighborhood nestled in Lakeview, which offered family, kid, tween, teen and adult classes, summer camps, parent nights out, workshops and privates in both yoga and health coaching. In 2020, as a response to the pandemic, I closed our brick and mortar and took our classes to the community via Zoom and outdoors. I was afforded personal space as well to dive deep into Ayurvedic studies. I immersed myself and studied with Katie Silcox and Shakti School to become an Ayurvedic Wellness Coach, graduating in December of 2021. I went on to complete the second level of Ayurveda school, graduating in 2023 as a 600hr Ayurveda Health Counselor. I have taught well over 1000 hours of yoga classes/privates/workshops/camps and am a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider.
