Sonjia Heath

My name is Sonjia Heath and I am a thirty eight year old mother of two. I was born and raised in North Carolina and attended Appalachian State University in Boone,N.C. I obtained a Bachelor of Science from Appalachian State. During this time, I also had the opportunity to travel to Germany to study the language for a summer, and then returned the following summer for an internship at a bank. It was during this time I developed a passion for international travel and opportunities to meet new and exciting people. My interest in fitness began at a very early age as a competative gymnast of ten years. This involvement in gymnastics included traveling throughout the U.S.A. and many hours devoted to training. During my college years, I developed a love of group fitness, specifically various aerobics classes. During my post collegiate years, I became an active member at the Sportscenter Athletic Club and expressed an interest in teaching aerobics. This lead me to obtain an AFAA certification, as well as training in YogaFit Level 1 and BodyPump by Les Mills. During my years of group fitness instruction, I have truly learned to value the clients and to assist them as much as possible in safely meeting their fitness needs and goals. I have learned that I receive personal joy from sharing fitness knowledge with others and always look forward to the challenge of introducing a new comer to the group fitness arena. On the other hand, I also look forward to challenging the more experienced group fitness exerciser and continuing their fitness level. In closing, I must express that I truly love my career as a fitness professional and foresee myself involved in this industry for the remainder of my working years. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm for fitness with many people in the years to come in both a domestic setting, as well as internationally. Thank you, Sonjia Heath
