PROFILE
For 12 years I enjoyed my position as an on air radio host in cities like Toronto, Edmonton and Albuquerque, New Mexico. I chose a new, rewarding career as a yoga teacher after moving to the rich yoga community of San Diego and discovering the countless benefits of a regular yoga practice. My experience as a broadcaster enhances my ability to create and communicate customized yoga classes intended to invite the practitioner to open to the present moment and cultivate strength and serenity.

EXPERIENCE
1991-2002
Award Winning Radio Host and Writer
My career began as a copywriter and news reporter/anchor at Saskatchewan radio stations CJYM and CK62.
I transitioned to a radio host on MIX 96 in Edmonton in 1993.
By 1996 I was recruited by Canada's largest country station, CISS FM in Toronto where I hosted the midday shift, wrote the station's weekly countdown program and interviewed dozens of the music industry's most popular stars.
Beginning in 1999, along with Cliff Dumas, I wrote and performed the award winning, cross country top 30 countdown program: "The Canadian Country Countdown" and served as a writer on the CBC award show, "The Canadian Country Music Awards".
From 2000-2002, Cliff and I travelled stateside to host the morning show at Albuquerque's legendary country station KRST FM.

2010-2011
Yoga Instructor at The Grand Del Mar, a 5 Star Luxury Resort in San Diego.
Brenda Larnin, Spa Director of the Grand Del Mar wrote: "In my months working with Lisa at The Grand Del Mar, I found her to be an extraordinary yoga instructor, and a pleasure to work with. She brings a sense of peace and personalization to her yoga classes in a unique and inspiring way. Before she was hired, Lisa developed a fitness program for our property that took into consideration financial goals, staffing levels, and most importantly, guest experience. When asked to adjust certain aspects, she was flexible, thoughtful, and accommodating. She’s the constant professional and an asset to our organization.I don’t think there are many people we find in our careers who we would unequivocally want to work with again, but I feel blessed to have met Lisa and truly hope our paths cross again in the future."

2010-2011
Yoga Instructor at The Willows Studio in Encinitas California
After graduating from an intensive yoga teacher training course, I was asked to instruct at the studio it was offered at. Please see the attached letter of recommendation from Studio Founder, Michele Bollo.

2011-2015
Independent Yoga Instructor in Vernon, British Columbia
When my family moved back to British Columbia from San Diego I was honoured to help create a community of dedicated yogis who share some testimonials about their experience: Lori: "I have tried many other yoga classes and Lisa’s are the only classes that have helped me through chronic shoulder and hip injuries from other sports. Lisa focuses on alignment and form through all yoga postures. She infuses her classes with a mindful theme, helping one to find calm and openness. Lisa’s classes are always different, offering variety and challenge. Anyone who attends Lisa’s yoga classes will feel physically, mentally and emotionally refreshed."
Alana Cheyne shares her experience: "Lisa's heartfelt teaching allowed yoga to truly work it's magic on me. Lisa teaches creative sequences with expert cues and alignment, allowing her students to get the most out of every pose. She has a way of tapping into the universal themes with which many of us struggle, gently guiding us toward insight, awareness, peace and growth. She has tremendous presence--her melodic voice, warmth, and vibrant heart fill the room".

2013-2015- Studio Director and Teacher at Arise Yoga, Vernon, British Columbia
Along with creating and teaching several yoga classes per week, my duties as Studio Director included scheduling and planning all classes and events and managing other teachers. I was solely responsible for Arise Yoga's presence on social media and the marketing of the studio. Arise Yoga was also a part of a greater wellness corporation, where I routinely teamed up with other practitioners to plan and market large scale wellness events.

2014-2015- Yoga Teacher at Kal Tire's Corporate Office in Vernon, BC
I was thrilled to be asked to teach lunch time yoga classes to employees of Kal Tire. The opportunity to practice yoga in the workplace clearly aids in the overall well-being of the employee, offering them a chance to restore, regain energy and become more present and focused at work.
One employee, Leanne, said, "Lisa's way of teaching is like none other. Her words of affirmation soothe the mind while she challenges your body to do things you didn’t think you could. With her inspiring words she helped me start to believe in myself again. My work environment has definitely improved due to Lisa’s yoga inspirations. Lisa provides yoga for the mind, body and soul. I cannot wait until I have a chance to take her class again".

2016- PRESENT
Since returning to Vancouver last fall, I auditioned for a position as a Yoga Instructor at Semperiva Yoga. Please attend one of my classes to experience my style and passion for this practice. www.sempervivayoga.com for times.
