Hello and thanks for reading my bio!
As you'll note from my experience, I started my professional academic career as a biologist and neuroscientist. Throughout my life I've been a fitness enthusiast, and have enjoyed swimming, biking, dancing, scuba diving, and weight training.
A number of years ago, a good friend introduced me to Pilates and Yoga - I was hooked! Pilates and Yoga became the cornerstone of my own personal health and lifestyle, so much so that I wanted to be able to share my great experience with others.
Once getting my training as a Pilates Instructor, i have been involved with small fitness training programs through my work at NIH.
I specialize in mat work and weight training Pilates, and I like to add aspects of modern dance for form, flexibility, and that wonderful feel of grace when doing Pilates. I believe that each student should go at their own pace and no one is too old to start!
Finally, my training and background as a neuroscientist has given me a perspective which I feel is unique when selecting a fitness instructor - that of the mind-body connection. No fitness program can be separated from our brains and how we think and feel, and I love the long tradition that Pilates and Yoga training has in emphasizing this mind-body connection.
Once again, thanks for reading my bio, and call me with any questions you may have, or if you wish to see additional pictures.
