Intro
In 1999, I stepped into the fitness industry by achieving my YMCA Individual Conditioning Certification. I volunteer as a personal trainer at my local YMCA for 6 months. Then I obtained my canfitpro Personal Training Specialist certification in 2000 and canfitpro Fitness Instructor Specialist in 2001. I obtained a job at Paula Masson's gym in Lunenburg, NS teaching group fitness classes and personal training. I worked her until 2023, when I decided to go to Acadia University and obtain my Bachelor of Education.
During my years in university, I became involved in triathlons. In 2009, I obtained my Adult Community Triathlon Coaching certification from Triathlon Canada and the National Coaching Certificate Program. In coached a beginner triathlon program for the Bridgewater Triathlon Club for four seasons, from 2011 - 2014.
In 2012, I started my own coaching company - GO FIT LIFE Coaching & Education. I am still operating today where I now coach endurance and ultra endurance athletes worldwide. I also opened and operated two fitness studios, one in Lunenburg when I lived in Nova Scotia and one in Fort McMurray, where I currently reside. However, during Covid I closed my fitness studio and moved mainly to online coaching.
Also, in 2017 I became a certified CASI Snowboard Instructor and teach beginners how to snowboard. I worked at Ski Ben Eion, NS and Vista Ridge, Alberta. In 2016, I became a PMBIA certified Mountain Bike Instructor and teach clinics and lessons for kids and women in Fort McMurray. I am still doing lessons for both snowboarding and mountain biking.
In 2017, I also became a canfitpro PRO Trainer and opened expanded my business into education. I created a classroom and learning space in my studio and taught certification courses for personal training, fitness instructing, CPR & First Aid, healthy eating and weight loss, and providing other courses for continuing education credits.
Currently, I am now working on my Level 1 & Level 2 TrainingPeaks certification and expanding my online endurance coaching business worldwide. I am also teaching fitness group classes occasionally at The District YMM in Fort McMurray.
I have kept all of the above certification active and continue to use every bit of knowledge I have learned to help others achieve their dreams and goals.

Additional Info about Tammy
Since 2006, I have been competing as an age-group endurance and ultra endurance athlete. I have competed in triathlons, duathlons, running, rowing, and a large variety of cycling races. I am currently involved in mountain bike marathon and stage racing. My most recent accomplishments include completing the TransRockies Classic 2019 in 6th place for the women's master class and also completing Singletrack 6 in 2018.
In 2012 I competed in Nova Scotia’s very first long course triathlon event EPIC Dartmouth. I signed up for the iron-distance (3.8k swim + 180k bike + 42.2k run) to raise over $4600 for PRO Kids in Lunenburg County. I competed in the event again in 2013 finishing in a time of 13:44 placing 1st in my age group and qualifying for a spot to represent Team Canada at the Long Course World Championships in Weihai, China. I raised an additional $2216 for PRO Kids during this event, bringing the grand total to $6904. I still continue to raise money for PRO Kids and currently have $7087 raised in total.
I received recognition from the Mayor of Bridgewater of my outstanding fundraising efforts that help the local charity PRO Kids. I also received the Adrian Campbell Sportsmanship Award for 2012 from Triathlon Canada. I believe fitness should be challenging and fun but also sustainable, encouraging individuals to become the best that they can be in life, mentally and physically.
“Tammy’s positive energy and enthusiasm is a tremendous motivator whether you’re a first-timer or a vet!” – Tom Rogers, Wentzell Lake
