Whitney Leyva

Whitney Leyva was born and raised in Fresno, California. She transferred out to California State University, Fullerton in 2010 and received her Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in clinical exercise at California State University, Fullerton in 2012. In May 2016 she completed her Master's Degree at California State University, Fullerton with an emphasis in strength and conditioning. She was the 2015-2016 director for the Human Performance Lab at CSUF. She has also interned in the athletic weight room at CSUF working with men’s and women’s soccer team and the discus and shot put throwers. Her thesis looking at the “Comparison of the hexagonal barbell deadlift versus back squat postactivation potentiation on vertical jump” is currently in review to be published. When she is not working in a lab or interning with the athletes she spends her free time volunteering with the Miss California Organization. She has held the titles of Miss Clovis 2009 and Miss Fullerton 2012, and continues to empower young ladies.  Her hobbies also include Polynesian dancing, Olympic weightlifting, and traveling.
