Susan Fershtman

My name is Sue Fershtman and I have been a Zumba instructor since July 2013. I absolutely love teaching Zumba at the local YMCA!  I believe that Zumba spreads happiness and from the smiles on my ladies' faces, I know I am doing exactly that! I have a wide variety of music ranging from Reggae, Salsa, Samba, Cumbia and familiar songs that everybody can dance to and forget their worries for an hour. I am certified to teach Basic 1, Zumba Toning, Zumba Gold, and zumba Fitness. My classes are energetic, sweaty and fun. I ususally have anywhere from 10-20 women in my weekend and Monday evening classes.

In the spring my goal is to teach a STRONG BY ZUMBA class at the local YMCA. I love the format of STRONG and I am ready to take on the challenge.

I am a wife to Bruce and a mother to Jordan (34), Daniel (32), and Leah Rose (24). I am also a gramma to Margot Jane. I live in Southfield, Michigan. I am a special Education Teacher in the Utica Community school district in Sterling Heights, Michigan. I teach Hearing impaired youngsters grades 3-6. I have been in the Utica schools for 30 years and I taught in the Detroit Public schools for two years before coming to Utica. Teaching Hearing impaired and speech impaired students is exciting and challenging at the same time.  I love helping my students "step up to the plate" and work alongside their grade level hearing peers.
