Alexandra Ziepke

Around 6 years ago, as a completely inflexible high school powerlifter with devastating self image issues, I turned to yoga to lose weight thinking that I would like myself as a result. At that time, I had to step on a scale daily in front of my coaches and see that I would need to cut weight to make it into my weight class. I would consistently see the yoga students glow as they walked out of their classes at the YMCA while I walked into my “Total Body Bootcamp.” I was certain that if I was not sweating profusely and sore, I was not getting closer to my desired result- but I HAD to see what all the fuss was about with yoga. In my first classes ever, I laid my matt in the darkest, back corner so no one would see me fail. To my surprise, no one cared how I did- it was MY practice. Over the first year, yoga taught me to love myself as I am and to accept where I am each day. I continued to practice through clinical depression and found it helped me come out of practice each day stronger. I found what I worked on in class would help me in everyday life.  I enrolled in teacher training to gain quality skills to be able to lead others through the same things I went through. I truly thought that is exactly what I was going to get- nothing more, nothing less. That’s when everything changed. I found yoga was my escape and made me stronger everyday. Others around would tell me that I carry a new energy with me that I am always ready to share with whoever needs it. Yoga was the reason I got out of bed for a large period of time. Yoga is the tool that has allowed me to truly live freely.

I teach a Power Yoga Sequence, Paddle board Yoga and a Vinyasa Sequence, all available to all levels of students. I want students to feel fulfilled, yet peaceful throughout and after class. You’ll find yourself laughing and smiling with me in our time together. I love to have fun and spice it up with more upbeat music making anyone on the planet feel as though yoga is accessible to them. Find your style of yoga, and let it work it’s magic. Find out for yourself. Namaste!
