Kristina Barnhardt

Starting yoga at a stressful crossroad in my life in 1997, I had no idea how profoundly it would change my life. Initially yoga helped me escape the stress I was experiencing and improve my outlook in every area of my life. Throughout the next 18 years I would return to yoga when able while also finishing a Nutrition Degree, enjoying 3 pregnancies and raising children. Yoga was always there waiting when I found time to practice. In the Fall of 2015 I pursued my 200 Hour Yoga Certification at Charleston Power Yoga. I was trained in the Baptiste style and enjoyed 2 immersion days with Baron Baptiste. My goal in training was to simply deepen my own practice but I soon realized I wanted to teach and share the joy of yoga with others. I started teaching in November 2015.

As I gained comfort in teaching Hot Power Vinyasa I also discovered a desire to work with athletes. This led me to Chapel Hill, NC to train under Sage Rountree and complete her Yoga for Athletes course. The challenge of working with athletes is to offer a practice specific for their sport based on their various phases of training, be that off-season, building phase or peak competition season. Whether working on strength and conditioning, balance and flexibility or recovery and mental clarity I find the challenge of working with athletes exciting.

When not teaching, I can be usually be found on a hiking trails with my husband, Mr Adventure, watching my kids perform in sports and music or baking cupcakes.
