Rachael Lary

My name is Rachael Lary, and I have been teaching yoga since November 2012. I believe whole heartedly it can and does benefit every person and every path. I received my 200 RYT through Charleston Power Yoga, a Baptiste affiliate studio in Charleston, SC. That training included: anatomy and physiology for effective physical cueing, breakdown of 'True North Alignment,' empowering modifications of poses in a power vinyasa sequence, how to intelligently sequence poses, powerful hands-on assists to all body types, history of yoga through the Yoga Sutras and other inspiring texts, and vigorous coaching exercises to draw out inner voice and power as a teacher. Upon that completion, I became a member of the Yoga Alliance and began my teaching endeavor.

In October 2014, I moved to Breckenridge, CO for adventure and exploration. While in Colorado I taught at Blue Lotus Yoga Studio (with Kati). I led beginner, core power flow, arm balance & inversions, and hot vinyasa classes. In November last year I moved back to South Carolina to plug-in to my greatest expression. I began with grace and vigor to dive into myself, my practice & my journey with less distraction. During this time I also began teaching at OM Yoga in Baxter Village, SC.

Part of my inner discovery and growth included furthering my training. On May 30, 2017, I completed my 300 RYT in Rishikesh, India at World Peace Yoga School. This course dove deeper into many topics I knew some about, and some I knew nothing about; these include but are not limited to: ashtanga vinyasa, hatha yoga, Ayurveda, pranayama, mudras, bandhas, meditation, yoga nidra, shatkarmas, alignment, assisting, adjusting, yoga therapy, methodology, anatomy, physiology, philosophy (Sutras), and asana intensives.

My teaching style ranges from slow/restorative to hot power vinyasa and everything therein. This being said, I recognize that I am always a student and there will always be something to learn and space to grow. Although I most recently studied hatha and ashtanga vinyasa, my favorite class to teach is a vinyasa flow - as it offers creativity and playfulness. I know the benefits of yoga are far reaching and ever unfolding. It has limitless capacities within and beyond asana.

My teaching is built with authenticity, discovery, laughter, and empowerment. I seek to challenge the physical and mental bodies with connection and intention. I strive to create a relationship between my students and their bodies. One the beautiful things about my job is watching a person discover that, “yes they can” do many more things than they previously believed. Thus, love fear exercises and 'tricking students' into arm balances. (Avoiding "I can't" thought process)

I, as the teacher, am only a vehicle of cues working to navigate awareness in the present moment and physical body. That being said, I believe the wisest and most connected yogi listens to their body first. Creating body awareness and connection is an incredible and important part of yoga. As this awareness develops, we begin to listen and become more in tune.

Above all, I am a teacher of love and light. I seek to encourage radical self love and lightness. We must love ourselves, love each other, love the animals and the earth. While I've not perfected this art, I know it's the only real worthwhile task.

I will continue this path of learning and unfolding the great lotus flower that is yoga for the rest of my life and those to come.

I have many references available as well as written peer and client feedback / evaluations.

I look forward to speaking with you further regarding this opportunity.

Thank you for your time, enjoy this magnificent day.

May all beings be peaceful, happy, and free.
With love & light,

Rachael C Lary
