Sonia was born and raised in the fast paced Washington DC area. Having a passion for healthy lifestyle, mindful living, and an being active, she pursued a colorful collection of training in belly dance, yoga, climbing, and aerial arts. Her background as a Biology major at University of Maryland combined the two passions of knowing the body inside and out for physical fitness. She was first introduced to yoga through her belly dance training in 2007. After years of advanced movement training, Sonia has since lead belly dance and yoga workshops all over the Washington DC metropolitan area for corporate workspaces, spas, charitable functions, dance studios and more.
Sonia seeks awareness through breath and motion, and allowing this awareness to bring about expressions and epiphanies of the soul. Her teaching style is fun, upbeat and challenging. She believes that strength, balance, flexibility and self discovery are happening every time we step on the mat to cause increased mindfulness and connection in daily life.
