Maria Fe Mangila-White

Fitness Bio As a trained and experienced nurse practitioner, health and fitness has always been of great interest to me. For this reason, yoga, cardiovascular and resistance training have been a major part of my personal health and fitness regime in the past 26 years. In 2000, I became a Group Exercise Instructor and was later certified by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). I teach a variety of group exercise formats: Turbo Kickboxing, Indoor Cycling, Cardio Salsa, Yoga, and Resistance based group classes. I have been was employed by the 24-Hour Fitness Gym Organization as a Group Exercise Instructor since 2001, where I continue to teach 3-4 times a week. To maintain, refine and acquire new skills as a fitness professional, I participate in the bi-annual Group Exercise workshops provided by 24-Hour Fitness and AAFA. I recently completed the 200-hour Yoga Alliance Yoga Teacher Registration. As required, I maintain a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate as an Instructor as well as current AFAA Certification and Yoga Allaince RYT CECs In my primary profession, I work as a full-time Nurse Practitioner working with patients with Cardiovascular Diseases. I firmly believe that my participation in Group Fitness Instruction contributes to my personal and professional goals of promoting wellness and preventing heart diseases. In my 26-year career as a health care professional, I had also served as a Basic Life Support Instructor, Advanced Life Support Instructor, Health Educator, local and national nurse speaker and Associate Clinical Nursing Professor status at UCLA School of Nursing. I believe that as a practicing health care professional, my knowledge of health and the human body brings added benefits to group exercise instruction. My foremost goal when teaching exercise classes is to ensure that the participants enjoy the workout while achieving their personal fitness goals using proper form and safe execution.
