CATHERINE FIELDMAN, PMA-CPT, OWNER, MOVEMENT EDUCATOR
I have always been interested in anatomy and movement, which has manifested itself into my true passion, Pilates and movement. My continued education and work have given me the tools to assess and address the needs and issues with a wide range of clientele. I have given specific attention to understanding and learning about neural pathologies and how to help people who have scoliosis, spinal fusions, and chronic back issues.
I believe that understanding how the brain works in conjunction with how the body functions has often been left out when understanding how the body moves and adapts itself to compensate for changes. I specialize in the specific needs of my clients so I can focus on what the goals of the individual and/or group are. Some of the specific needs include: Chronic pain, preparation for surgeries, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Scoliosis, spinal fusions and other physical restrictions.
I opened my studio so I could be free to better serve the needs of my clients. The gift in this space is that I can offer more individual hours of myself. The studio is set up with all the equipment necessary, including Reformers, Trapeze Table, Ladder Barrel and all the little fabulous gadgets needed to fit the client. I strive in every effort and intention to better myself and knowledge so that I can help my clients.
In addition to my BASI Pilates comprehensive certification, I have comprehensive training in scoliosis and have studied with Coleen Glen, Marie Jose-Blom, and Karena Thek, who are leaders and innovators in movement education and applications in the bodies of people with scoliosis. I recently just became a certified practitioner of the Scolio-Pilates method. Founder, Karena Thek, created Scolio-Pilates to be an easy-to-understand and easily accessible exercise program for managing scoliosis at home or with an instructor.
Currently, I have two projects underway. I am working to bridge my education in Pilates to another comprehensive certification through Polestar Pilates which is a more physical therapy based program. This program allows me to help serve my clients with specific individual needs to continue improving their movement, health, and well being from a rehabilitation perspective. I am also about to complete my Level 1, Franklin Method Certification to complement my practice through dynamic imagery and movement.
